On Windows

Windows can't set a virtual background for your sessions directly, but here are a few simple tricks look just as polished on camera:

  • Angle your camera toward a plain wall. A blank or lightly decorated wall behind you reads as calm and professional.

  • Tidy the frame, not the whole room. Clear just the slice of space the camera actually sees.

  • Light your face, not your background. Sit facing a window or lamp. Good front lighting does more for how you come across than any backdrop.

  • Add one intentional touch. A plant, a piece of art, or a bookshelf gives a warm, grounded feel without clutter.

If your webcam uses its own software, it may offer a background option you can switch on there.

A Few Tips for Any Setup

  • Test your background before your first session of the day so you're not adjusting on the fly.

  • Blur is your friend if you're ever short on time.

  • Whatever you choose, aim for calm and uncluttered. Your client's focus should land on you.
